Upon receipt, open and inspect your rose for any damage right away. Your bare root rose will arrive dormant with no soil or leaves. You may think it is not alive but it's just taking its winter nap. It is normal to see minor root and cane breakage as well as some dirt & soil on the roots.

If you're not ready to plant your rose after unboxing, wrap and tie it back in the plastic bag it came in, close the box and leave it in a dark, cool location like a basement or garage for up to seven days at a temperature of 35-42 degrees.
